DETROIT -- Robin Lehner made 34 saves, and the Buffalo Sabres scored twice on the power play for a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Monday.

It was the third straight victory for the Sabres over the Wings, the first time Buffalo managed that since the 1988-89 NHL season. Detroit was 31-3-1-2 against the Sabres prior to the current three-game run.

The Sabres opened the scoring on a power-play goal at 9:01 of the first period. Jack Eichel took a pass from Ryan O'Reilly at the top of the left faceoff circle and snapped a long wrist shot past Detroit goalie Petr Mrazek.

The Buffalo power play produced again 8:59 into the second period. Matt Moulson tried to tip a Tyler Ennis slap shot but only succeeded in stopping it. He quickly scooped a backhand shot past Mrazek to make it 2-0 with his 11th power-play goal of the season.

Tomas Tatar continued to carry the hot hand. He scored his sixth goal in as many games, getting the Red Wings on the board at 12:53 of the second period when he snapped home Mike Green's cross-crease pass behind Lehner.

Mrazek finished with 28 saves.
