That article is a little off base John as I watched the opening lines come out offshore and bet this right after the NE game ended. No one had the Rams favored including betcris which they referenced in the article. I just checked again after reading this and the line history shows them opening Rams +1.5 -105 which is what I seen at that time as well. So how much credibility does one give that writeup ? Also offshore no one is at 3.5 with bodog and SIA both notorious dog books sitting at 3. I'm still hoping to see that 3.5 as I think I'll just take the middle shot and be done with it leaving me some nice wiggle room to do some live betting.

I read your lost interest in this game post, and I get that, but I'm still curious to know what you think from a gambling standpoint.

Tom,

I really don't have an opinion on the game...yet...  Are they going to 'let them play' or will the refs be throwing the yellow hanky on 'ghost' penalties without a clear 'line-of-sight' (site) in their vision?

It's funny.  I got up early this morn, made coffee, plopped down, turned on the boob-tube & turned over to the NFL network where they were showing 30min condensed versions of previous SB's.  Watching some of the hits in each one would draw at a minimum a 15-yard personal foul in today's game, with a warning for possible ejection if it happens again.  Yet they weren't even fouls back then.

Heck, I saw the great Reggie White hit Drew Bledsoe twice.  The first would've drawn a 15-yarder, the second hit was a TFL at the knees, which would've been another 15-yarder and probably ejected...

The game has changed so-o-o much in 20 years.

   Here's something:

if you eliminate '03 in which both teams were include, you get:

   6-0 s/u

   advantage:  Patriots

I do find this very curious though:

still have a whole week to go.

Patriots have 36,750 bets vs Rams only 18,660 bets

   yet

Patriots have $6,968,168 for only 43% of the $$$

   while

Rams have $9,191,170 for 57% of the $$$

avg bet Patriots $189 vs Rams $492

Pats have twice as many bets yet Rams more than twice as much wagered per bet

Don't know what to make of that.

How about this simple trend John, team with less wins than opponent

week=22 and wins< o:wins

10-1 ats and 7-4 su

Only 2 times has that team been the fav and they are 2-0 suats

NBA,

I don't argue your point & I've always been leery of 'consensus' stuff, but I've also been watching this one for years now...more out of curiousity than anything else.  But I have found some good stuff during the season on any given game.

But we're talking apples vs oranges here.  What I mean by that is:

   the books 'in Vegas'
   vs
   the books 'offshore'

I posted something in the other thread about the line movements:

only $$$ moves the line...I've never argued that $$$ came in on the Pats

And it's getting closer to 50/50 offshore:

but only 35% of the $$$ are on the Rams...yet they have 55% of the $$$

Anyways, it's neither here nor there, just 'fluff' compared to other stuff...

about as close to 50/50 now offshore as you can get:

   pats...100,000+ bets for $30.5mil

   rams...77,000 bets for $28.5mil
