Great to have football back ! I know many aren't interested in this league but that's your loss because you're missing something entertaining and competitive and a great fill in before the NFL. Our friend sportspicks has turned us onto a money making opportunity in the early weeks, (1-4) which has produced a fine record over the last 4 years, here it is. DOGS with an under subset that should make one drool. Thanks for picking up and sharing that Andrew.

week<=4 and D and season, 1 and season>=2014

LINK FOR PROOF

This simple system has produced a record of 45-18-1 ats (84%) and 21-43 o/u (68%) the last 4 years, if you bet every dog and every under in the 1st 4 weeks that translates to 98-39, 71%. Andrew found this 3 years ago and has done well with it as you can see. It also has had only one losing season in the life of the database since 2007 (2013) and dogs have cashed at a 64..5% clip in those 11 years. This caught Andrews attention and the totals are just a bonus based on his findings for the spread. Game on baby !

Tom, blind squirrels can find something every once in a while right?

Guys all you need to know is what Tom said "but that's your loss because you're missing something entertaining and competitive and a great fill in before the NFL."

The CFL is a lot of fun if watching MLB or the PGA gets a little dry.

ESPN+ down here in the states (yes, $4.99) and select games on the regular ESPN platform. Try it for a few weeks and try to learn it.

Whatever we do, the opposite happens in the CFL:

NFL has 4 downs, the CFL has 3.
NFL 2 minute warning, CFL 3 minute warning.
The game clock can run out in the CFL and if the play clock is still going, the play can continue.
It's possible to have a 4-2 game in the early stages as "singles" can be had. Look that one up, this is a truncated list.
The NFL ball has no end stripes, the CFL ball has them (a NCAA like ball).
The penalty flags and challenge flags are of opposite colors in the two leagues.
The referees hats are opposite colors like the flags in the CFL/NFL.
The goal posts are on the goal line in the CFL (the old NFL), ten yards deep in the NFL.
The field dimensions are different (bigger, wider in the CFL).
Pass interference is review-able in the CFL not NFL (instant replay ugh).
Multiple players can be in motion in the CFL only and can run towards the line of scrimmage and refs usually give them leeway if it's close at that line of scrimmage.

That's just scratching the surface. I've forgotten some other obvious differences I'm certain.

Enjoy.

In the CFL they can score 1 point, but I forgot how they do it.

In Canadian
football, a single (single point, or rouge), scoring one point, is
awarded when the ball is kicked into the end zone by any legal means,
other than a convert or a successful field goal, and
the receiving team does not return, or kick, the ball out of its end
zone.

Looking into this a little further Peter:
In Canadian football, a single (single point, or rouge), scoring one point, is awarded when the ball is kicked into the end zone by any legal means, other than a convert (successful or not) or a successful field goal, and the receiving team does not return, or kick, the ball out of its end zone. It is also a single if the kick travels through the end zone or, other than on a kickoff, if it goes out of bounds in the end zone without being touched. After conceding a single, the receiving team is awarded possession of the ball at the 35-yard line of its own end of the field.

Singles are not awarded in the following situations:

if a ball is downed in the end zone after being intercepted in the end zone
if a ball is fumbled outside the end zone
if the kicked ball hits the goalposts (since the 1970s; before then it was a live ball)
when a kickoff goes into the end zone and then out of bounds without being touched

In all these cases the defending team is awarded possession of the ball at the 25-yard line.
I think those rules apply to punts only because I've seen a lot of balls that bounce off the uprights or cross bar that count as a legal field FG:
Field goal
Scored by a drop kick or place kick (except on a kickoff) when the ball, after being kicked and without again touching the ground, goes over the cross bar and between the goal posts (or between lines extended from the top of the goal posts) of the opponent's goal, worth three points. If the ball hits the upright above the cross-bar before going through, it is not considered a dead ball, and the points are scored. (Rule 5, Sect 4, Art 4(d)) If the field goal is missed, but the ball is not returnable after crossing the dead-ball-line, then it constitutes a rouge.
I get all that but for the life of me I can't find out what happens if you kick a field goal and it hits the uprights or crossbars but is a bad FG and goes into the end zone (glances off the outside of the upright for instance), is that still a single ?
It looks to me if I'm interpreting this right is that a missed field goal is then treated like a punt and the rules for a punt come into play like having to give the 5 yard cushion and where we're concerned it's a dead ball if it touched the goal post assembly and goes into the endzone so a team wouldn't be awarded a rouge in that situation
