Only thing I can find is that he's been working out at Hawthorne. Can't find him anywhere in today's Hawthorne entries. Maybe he's entered tomorrow? Don't know Mark.

 OAKLAWN PARK

 Race # 9
Horse #5..... Zip Van Winkle
M/L  7-2
Like where the horse is spotted and my numbers say he wins. I've selected in a 12 horse field which is probably suicide as far as a contest goes but gosh darn it He's my best bet today so sticking to it. Good luck today Michelangelo

Side job sorry about sending you on a wild goose chase yesterday looking for Reality Star !!
I was swamped at work 40 clowns standing in front of me and or so I put the wrong horse up !
Meant to be She is Gorgeous in the 3rd at Hawthorne. FYI she led from the get go all the way to the last jump and got beat a nose paying  ..........  $4.40....$3.00

So I found a way to get ONE free race (PP charts) from Equibase. I don't get to choose the race. It's a pretty crap race with cheap inconsistent horses in it. But at least I have the past performances.

Gulfstream
4th
Post 1:30

#3 Toother Belle

ML 5-1

Seems to be the most consistent of a cheap lousy lot of nonwinners of two lifetime for a 6250.00 tag. Has hit the board in 7 of his last 8 starts. Cutting back to 6f for the first time in his career. Last four starts were at a mile. Should benefit from the cutback.

Good luck, Rosie.

You know the funny thing Mark
The horse REALITY STAR that you were looking for was on my list and ran Friday the day before at Hawthorne
and in WON paid  $7 something so I still had his name on my mind.

Saturday 3/18

Hawthorne Race course

Race 3
Horse #6....... Katies Warrior
M/L .... 9-5

Trainer drops this one to a win spot after being in over head prior. Almost looks to easy so 9-5 would be a gift win ticket

Sorry guys. Running behind. Had to go to a St Patty's day dinner. Corned beef and cabbage. I put vinegar on the veggies. Love the stuff. Broke my Lenten promise. Had two guinesses. Back on the wagon now.

Let's go to the 12th at Gulfstream
6:10 post
#4 Ransack
5/2 ML
Paco Lopez
Michael Maker

Hasn't run since May. In a nonwinners of two. Working well. On the turf, his preferred surface. Has had 8 lifetime starts. Running back to any of them should get him into the money here.

///

Also like a longshot in the The Essex Handicap at Oaklawn.

Race 8
#5 Secret Passage
ML 15-1
Joe Rocco
Donnie Von Hemmel

Eighth lifetime start for this horse. Third start this year for this 4 year old. I'm partial to young horses at this class on the improve. He's got two improving Beyers in his two races this year. Comment for his last was "exploded". That's a comment that you rarely see. There is a lot of early and tactical speed in this race. May set up for his big closing kick. Good luck.

Haha We both check out together. But you win the ROI Rosie. Congrats.

Next time I go to the track (after Easter) I'm gonna take twenty bucks and bet to show parlaying the winnings back into the next race 'till I win $100.00. How tough do you think that would be? Never did anything like that.

We do that every time we go to the track together the Chicago guys.
Taking turns picking
Believe me it's hard. We get it up to 8
$80 $90 dollars and sure as shit someone will pick a 9/5 that runs out.

I was thinking along those lines for the next contest. $2 original wager plus your ROI

Thanks Alpine
any contest is always fun win or lose

I didnt have a good horse day yesterday and gave back my Friday night profits .

My favorite show pool story goes back years but I do remember a July 4th at Arlington I started with a 20 spot and told Ref Im letting it ride the whole day
thru all the races after all its really only 20 bucks. Well I won every race and parlayed my 20 into $780. It Starts adding up as you get late in the game
And yes Alpine every time I go with a group we start the old show pool as you know in hopes of paying are bar bill I guess ! We need to win em all to cover that bill
I miss that damn Balmoral get together we had since they closed the place.

Thanks again Dave and will see you guys in another thread for sure as the derby nears.

Thanks for setting up the contest and grading it, Alpine. Like Rosie said, contests are always fun.

Gonna try that $20.00 show parlay thing. Learned a little here about the kind of horses to pick and avoid. Will let you all know how I do.

Congrats again, Rosie the Handicapper.
