Bilbal, thanks for the feedback, my system matched a lot of the same plays you show, but I'm missing some. Are you using the formulas exactly as they are stored currently in the warehouse or have you tweaked them? In your earlier post you show Gin 2-balanced avg. 02 games, but it's stored in the warehouse as bal avg. 8 games, and several other formulas are similar. I've gone in to change these to match your earlier post, but are you always using season to date as the default test mode? And I am missing one formula, I didn't see BILBAL, but you have several other versions in the warehouse, so I used BIBBAL2.

Also do you tweak formulas by "try current forumula with different databases"- using last N dates or season to date or both to find the highest % ATS? Sorry for all the questions, appreciate any help you provide. Good luck today-

Hi,

I downloaded all the systems, and then analyized all of them with season to date as of 1/9/03. Then using Bil's advice I only used the best ATS%, and I don't think all of them matchup quite the same. I looked back at doing it this for this season and when I have 6-0 or better hits they've gone 94-32-2 this year doing it this way.

Today the plays are:

Texas A&M +19 (9)
Miss St -13.5(8)
Ball State +1 (6)
Arizona -4.5 (6)
Bill & mary +6 (8)
Vandy +10.5 (6)
Baylor (+29) (7)
Ariz St -4 (7)
UC-Riverside -2.5 (7)
UCLA +1 (6)
Idaho St +5.5 (7)

I change the lines to match what my books are offering, not what I download from WinPicks. I start with that, but I always enter the lines as my book has them and get my play ratings from that. Something as simple as a 1/2 point change can make the difference between a team getting 5 or 8 hits and I don't play anything that doesn't hit at least 6-0. Your Baylor pick is a good example, I had a line of +28 and it gave me no hits, but when I changed it to +29, it gave me 8 hits. But that big of a swing on one point means I'd lay off that game, too.

Also, as far as the databases on WinPicks goes, you may have to change them manually once you download them, I always use season to date for default test db in NCAA-BB.

Sperfreak, my records for games that have a 6-0 or better are 100-40 (including last night's plays), but again, the lines I have are the ones I enter from my books before I place action on it and not what WinPicks gives me, these can vary by as many as 3 or 4 points, and I'm sure that's the difference in our records. They get their lines from Oasis, I believe.

I use "season to date" to find the highest ATS%. That is how I come up with the optimal database to use for that formula. Good luck to you too!

This is great- your help is appreciated it's all coming together. I've been hitting some totals faily well in the past week on CBB. Today using the wharehouse 10 best totals formulas, the concensus shows S. Fla vs Louisville 3 hits, over 140- my line at Oly is at 137.5 currently and Seaton vs St. John over 136- 3 hits, my line at Oly is 131.5. I would imaging if I input my lines the hits may go up. I think I'm going to hit these overs- anyone have opionions on these totals?

I don't play the totals too much because of the vast line movements in them. It doesn't take much money to move a totals line. I guess if you catch them at the right time they'd be cool. The side action is enough for me though, and that's why I looked for 6-0 rather 9-0..To give me more action. That's the gambler coming out in me

BTW with the recent line movements..Vandy, and Baylor are no longer plays.

GL today

Too much defense today for my totals plays. Had two teams that average in the 60's shoot in the 40's today. Guess that's why they call it gambling.....

Geppi, I had both NFL dogs yesterday, that helped cuz Arizona and the Minny over both tanked, but the rest of the college hoops picks did pretty good! I hope everyone else cashed in too!

WinPicks didn't kick out much today though, 6 hits on NC -4.5 over GTech. Tough game there though, as of 9:15am, 83% of the straight action was coming in on GTech, so if you play it wait until the line drops to -4 or -3.5, it should drop since the game isn't until 8pm.

As for the NFL, I'm leaning towards the dogs again today and the over in the KC-Indy game, but since I'm due a big payday this week, I may just lay off and 'pick up'! Nothing like thanking that fat bastard bookie of mine for the rubberbanded roll of hundreds he's handing over!

GLTA today!
Bill

Bilbal,
I like the dogs also. I come up with 52 points scored in the KC game and 46 in the Phil game. I actually have Indy & GB winning straight up. Good luck. I think I'll lay off the baskets and wait til you have the stronger plays. Good luck to you today whatever you do.

I'd jump on NC now if you're going to, major money is starting to move on them, (17% earlier is now 46%) so it looks like it's going to go to minus 5 pretty soon.

On NC thinking of moving to Phil. Too much public money on GB.

Bilbal,

Well I screwed myself up. Had two winners yesterday and switched to Phil last minute and loaded up. What an ass!!!! It's not the fact of losing as much as doing something completely stupid. After 30 seconds into the game I had this gut wrenching feeling I screwed up bad. Took a serious hit on my bankroll this weekend. Don't know if I'll be able to recover. Hope you keep the picks coming. I hate when I do something like this and I do it a least a couple of times a year; I need better discipline. Damn! Thanks for NC, if it wasn't for that I would be done.

Geppi! You had 4 easy winners, why did you load up on Philly? You gotta get yourself a system and stick to it.

I didn't get any hits out of WinPicks today, anyone else?

Here is who I am on today:

NBA
Cleveland +8.5
Golden St -4

NCAA
Missouri -4

I'll probably start posting picks in the other forums if you want me to.

Bilbal,
You're right. I got spooked off of GB because there was so much public action on it. Also, I was chasing my money and tried for a homerun rather than single it out which I was doing. Got antsy and impatient. I really am disgusted with myself today. I can't get to the sportsbook from here. They block those sites. Once in a while I can get through. Last I saw Missu was -5.5. Post where you are comfortable, just let me know where you are. Sometimes at the other areas you get bashed when you put up a loser. You may not want to go there; your call.

BB,
I was able to get on them with slight diff. Missu-5, Cleve+8, GS-4. THX. Good luck to us.

Nothing here today as far as Winpicks. 5-0 on the Hall over Providence, but Friars are a tough squad off 2 losses, and no use pressing the issue here since it isn't at least 6-0. I do like Utah a bit here even with frost listed as Questionable. Funny line as UNLV hasn't left home in close to a month, and has won 3 of 4 SU at home over Utah. This line should be more than just one IMO. Plusit's an ESPN game, and Pub usually liks home team in TV games. So I'm going to make a small wager on Utah. Mizzu looks good too as unranked teams favored over ranked teams have yet to lsoe this year.
