do you guys have different formulas for sides and totals? How far apart do you guys usually set the upper and lower betting window? 1 pt, 2 pts, or more?

There is no "correct" setting for the windows. It depends what you're looking for or even simply where you get the best results.

I do believe that they should be set to allow enough picks to be generated. A wider window doesn't always mean more picks and vice versa because the lower the window settings, the more picks generated for obvious reasons.

Also, the database, PSM and BW's, IMO, should probably be set first where you want them and tweek everything else after.

Also, the lower window is more important than the upper. More times than not, if you set the upper all the way to 100, you'll get better results because you're not limiting your formula from finding greater value. The only catch is when a line is out of whack from a key injury.

Hope I didn't confuse you!:)

Again, there's really no "best" setting for HCA either. You would generally think home court is worth around 4 points in the NBA but, again, it depends on where you get the best results.

Best thing to do is just play around with the settings until you're happy with the results.

So nobody here wants to share their formulas for NBA? I had some good ones last year, but they don't seem to be working this year. Messed around and found a formula for totals that is 13-3 on the season, but has 5 games picked tonight, so I guess this will be a good test.

I tried inputting those formulas and for moxie2 this is what you wrote..

Data Method:
4
Data Value:
7

Date method 4 is fixed at date but how does the 7 work since you gotta enter a date?

Also, I entered holt3 and it didnt show any records ytd.

holt 3 roll avg. 7 games

Why is it that formulas that worked last year doesnt work this year? I got a formula last year that produces close to 60% picking close to 500 games but this year is under 30%

I have learned that what works best for me with the NBA is to look deep and hard at the last 20 dates and forget about any long term results.
Get as many formauls as you can and try to build different ones with vastly different betting windows and home field and all that stuff.
Then what I do is just every day check every one and any that went over 60% for last 20 dates take and put in a consences and just be cool and go with it. Day after day if your formuals are worth a shit at all you will make money. I have, and do and will again.
Forget about one pick being better than another, even if 20 formuals all say it is a pick just use the same unit size with every bet
This same concept works well with NBA totals to.

good luck 2 u

Jeff,

I like listening how everyone goes about their strategy because I think it's interesting how many different angles we can take with this software.

I personally feel the last five years are important because it shows a more established formula that can prove it has a common winning combination over a wide range of dates. 20 dates could just be a fluke, although being the most recent 20 dates makes it more legit. It's certainly working for you so far in NFL.

Do you tweek your formulas on only 20 dates or an entire year or years?

~ Ride the Flow and the cash is soon to Flow ( I N ) ~

Lets say you have a NBA fromula that is showing 65% over the last 2 years. I would bet you that there are some nasty spots within this time frame where you would have just got the shit kicked out of you.
Like maybe a span of 30 dates where this formula went 45%. So you see the funny thing that happens to me is that I end up with a new formula that is strong over a large time frame and somehow always fall right into one of these big nasty holes. So after a long time in holes I decided that I would have a better chance if I tried to just catch the end of a winning trend or flow.

Makes sense. I'm in a nasty hole right now. They always seem to find me too. If your philosophy continues to be consistent, I may try that angle also!

NBA formuals....
not great works of art, but from time to time they do have their moments. Download em, use em, make some $$$ with em, and then up load a few new ones for the whole forum to use.

good day

Thanks for the formulas hellbringer. I used winpicks last year and had some good ones, but they are not working to well this season. Just bought the update for this season on Tuesday, so still tweaking some formulas. When I find some that work I will post them.
Wish others would do the same... share the wealth!!!
