Number freak,

Did you run it on "my lines" or downloaded lines?

When I run it it comes up 11-3-2 for year to date
150 dates (sept 30 '99) 57.1% +16.7
250 dates (dec 30 '96) 56.1 +17.3
300 dates (dec 9 '95) 56.3% +18.9
400 dates (sept 6 '93) 55.1% +16.3

You get 9-8-1 ytd and I get 11-3-2???..Somethings wrong with our programs or we have not run the same formula.
Just as a check: run meatball for 400 dates, I show ATS 56.2% +19.4
Totals 52.1% -4.3 units.
Your take?

Rebel8,

To clarify, I ran your last 5 years, which comes out as 226 dates, from the beginning of this season back 5 seasons. There are no "this year" stats included. (So, years '97 thru '01) I came out with the 54.6% entering this season.

I then tweaked it briefly using the same dates, I got it to 60.2%, however with the new parameters, it would only be 9-8-1 this year.

I am using "My Lines" for the YTD record but that doesn't come into play for the L5Y.

Gotcha....read your runs on the fly to work this a.m.

Now I am questioning how to research and best use a formula.
When I run Diamond on "my lines" YTD it is 17-3. That of course
is what I actually wagered from. For research purposes here we
can only use "downloaded lines". That's the only provable stats.

When you run a time block before this season it doesn't predict that amount of success. However, luckily I did not discount the formula.
For now I am going to stick with it til it turns sour.

Thanks for the input Number Freak.

Hi there;
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, but I had Jury Duty, and then my phonelines got knocked down, by a branch ,from the winds we had here. I have a few programs hitting near 70% going back all dates in the Pros, but are not preforming well at the beginning of this season, I have some with lower % that seem very good right now, but only 51% -56% going back all dates, then I have some high % but very thin on plays per year. What would you prefer if any?

Here is a formula that has yielded 55.4% and 38.1 units.
For 17 years including this year.
formula is sure98
Totals for this formula sucks 47.3& and minus 69.6 units
attached is the formula
I also have the data for each year in an excel file. I do not know
how to attach multiple files so I will send it with a second message.

For some unapparent reason the files with a pff extension cannot be attached. They get attached but contain no data.
These are the parameters for the sure98.pff formula
Points scored 20.17
Fumbles lost 9.2
Yards per rush 15.49
yards per pass 15.28
yards per punt 10.28
won/loss percentage 29.58
Home field adv (points) 3.87
Point spread multiplier 0.97
Lower betting window limit 7.0
Upper betting window limit 12.0
Rolling average 4 games
all other parameters not listed are zero
created by surelock optimized for sides, sample = 21, automatic Stat selection, 6 stats

other questions..haven't there been a lot of conference realignments in the last 15 years..if so, aren't we testing formulas that aren't relative, so to speak when we are attempting to test them over extensive dates.! a generality..is winpicks college successful because of values assigned a particular conference?

I agree, the Win picks college setup has a lot to be desired, if they add all the varibles that the Pro software has with these college conf ratings, a person could do something with it,if you have a good NBA formula, I'd be interested..Old King

Hello,

You are talking a lot about single formulas. I am newer to the software but have put a lot of effort into the research of the Pro software formulas.

Do you use more consensus style vs. a single formula to increase your +units and your %average? If yes, where do you guys pan out with all years in the % category and + units?

My consensus (All Dates/Unanimous) gives me %59.2 and +343 units. Is this average to what some of the more experienced software users come out to. Or should I be shooting for something better?

Thanks,

Jefe

Those sound like some good numbers, Jefe. How many formulas make up your consensus?

2006,

I believe Old King posted a totals formula. Are you looking at ATS? If not, maybe you just have a digit off somewhere.
